Red Rock Zipline in Durmitor National Park
Tara Canyon is the second deepest canyon in the world and starting from the 1st of May Red Rock open their zipline over the canyon for the season. You can glide down the zipline at a speed of up to 50kms/hour, with the dramatic backdrop of the Durmitor National Park – which is a protected UNESCO site! During the zipline you can also enjoy the ex-Yugoslav contemporary architecture and views of the Durdevica Bridge.
Pilgrimage to the Ostrog Monastery
This is a must see for those who have a taste for local tradition, beautiful views, and a taste for history! The 17th Century Ostrog Monastery emerges from the rockface above the Zeta valley, located 900m above sea level. It is considered to be a site of miracles and contains the relics of St Basil of Ostrog. Visiting the Ostrog, on a clear day, is considered to be a detox for the mind. To get the full experience and enjoy the impressive sights of the mountain peaks, you should head there early in the morning and experience it in the morning haze.
Boat Tours on Skadar Lake
Skadar Lake is the largest freshwater lake on the Balkan peninsula and houses many faunae and flora. If you’re a nature enthusiast then, Skadar might just be your paradise. Glide along the water in a rustic paddle boat, relish in the wildlife, and enjoy the horizon of the Montenegrin peaks, an idyllic spring pastime. There are many small settlements in Skadar, that you can stop by to try the local delicacy of freshwater trout.
Montenegro Express from Bijelo Polje to Bar
One of the best ways to enjoy Montenegro’s scenery is on the Trans-Siberian railway. Start your journey in the rocky north, looking down on the blue waters of the Moraca river. The journey ends in the town of bar.
Bunch and Shopping at Porto Montenegro
The springtime sun is the perfect weather condition to enjoy the beautiful marina. The breeze of the sea will keep you cool, and you can use the palms to catch some shade. There are many restaurants that you can choose from, including cafés and bars. You can treat yourself to some drinks and delicious light bites, or fresh pastas and pizzas. Once you’re energised from the food, we’d recommend going for some shopping retail. There are many shops and they offer tax-free shopping for anyone living outside of Montenegro.
Picnic by the Stara Maslina
The Stara Maslina, located right by the Bar’s Old Town, literally means ‘Old Olive’. It is gives tribute to Montenegro’s Mediterranean culture. Prepare a little picnic with some snacks and bring some local wine to enjoy under the shade of one of the oldest olive trees in the world. While you’re there, make sure to go on a walk across the old town at sunset.
