Pichilemu Beach Party Dome experience in Pichilemu, Chile
A quick 3-hour drive south of Viña del Mar, Pichilemu is one of the best spots for surfing a wave, in the world! Casa Nômade, which is a Viña-based art, music, and design team, will be organising a New Year’s Eve fiesta – the Dome Experience. They place a very heavy emphasis on the arts, especially audio-visual art installations throughout the Dome. They even allow every guest to bring one bottle of their preferred drink to the event!
Cosmic Convergence in Lago Atitlan, Guatemala
If you’re looking for a party with a more spiritual aspect to it, this one might be for you. Here you can have interesting discussions about chakras, relaxing yoga sessions, naturalist workshops, and artists exhibitions. There is music, and fire-jugglers always put on very interesting shows. There are swimming holes for a quick swim and cool down session.
Goa, India
Goa is a beautiful state, filled with palm studded white beaches and lots of spirituality. Sunburn festival takes advantage of all that Goa has to offer and hosts a huge music festival there. However, if you prefer something more intimate and smaller, Goa has plenty of that to offer as well. Anjuna beach usually has world-class DJs playing in the many tiki bars located there. But if that is too crowded, you can also party in the dunes of Palolem or Vagator. The fireworks that go off at midnight are said to be incredible!
Ranchos Itaúna in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica
A small rustic hotel called Ranchos Itaúna, is known to host some of the best New Year’s Eve parties on the Nicoya peninsula. In the calm village of Santa Teresa, although they are some of the biggest parties west of San José, they are always a word-of-mouth affair – you won’t find them as events on a Facebook page or flyers going around about them. Make sure you have your room booked somewhere close by, and talk to some of the locals to find out more about them!
Kokrobite, Ghana
Not a destination that you think of when you think about partying on New Year’s Eve, but that’s why this unique destination is so special. A fishing village just 30km off of the capital city of Accra, Kokrobite has been growing in fame for its beach raves. You can dance the night away with your feet in the sand, enjoying some afro-house, house, and reggae music. After the sun has set, there are bonfires and stunning fireworks shows. The parties don’t stop until the sun starts rising, after which everyone runs to the sea for a morning swim with the stunning sunrise, welcoming the new year.
