Hidden beach, Playa de Amor or love beach are all different words for this beach that is located on Mexico’s Marieta Islands. In the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Nayarit in Islas Marietas National Park, this beach is very secluded as the name suggests. You can only access it at low tide through a single water tunnel. The beach itself is not an underground beach, as it sits within an open-air crater, which adds to the whole secret feel. It is said to have been formed by bomb tests performed by the Mexican Government in the early 1900s, so it also has a very interesting history!
This beach located in California, by the small city of Fort Bragg, is just magical. This beach is one of the most interesting beaches in the world, the shore is filled with multicoloured glass pebbles. But it is not a natural creation, unfortunately it comes from years of garbage glass being dumped by the coast at several local spots. Over the years, the glass that was thrown away was slowly worn down and smoothed, creating the glass beach. Nature’s way of turning something ugly into something beautiful!
Vik beach, also called Reynisfjara beach, is located in Iceland. It has very dramatic scenery, with jet black sand! It is incredible to see. Vik beach is not the only volcanic black sand beach in Iceland, but it is especially special because of the different rock formations and sea stacks found along it. Because of how dramatic the scenery here is, the beach was many one of the many filming locations of the tv show Game of Thrones!
Portugal is filled with many gorgeous beaches, but the Benagil Sea Cave is easily one of the most impressive ones! Located near the village of Benagil, this beach is inside a sea cave with only a small skylight illuminating it. You have to either take a boat or a stand-up paddle-board to reach one of the sea entrances of this unique beach.
Yes, you read that correctly! A beach where the sand is pink! Located within the Komodo National Park on a small uninhabited island just off Komodo island. This remote beach is worth the journey you have to take to go see it. Also called Pantai Merah, which means Red Beach, the beach is pink due to the small red coral grains mixed into the sand.
